We were racing the setting sun to get the the stone circle at Avebury.
Luisa has a peacock feather in her dash, though DK was driving...
The sun set a few minutes before we arrived, and the public car parks being closed meant that we missed the light entirely.
Avebury is a village enclosed by a stone circle, the scene of many a book and Hammer Horror film.
Do follow the link. It's fascinating.

Did you get to see the circle in the end?
Not really - the sun had already gone down, but we had been before.
Wow! Rachel!
What a fascinating place. OMG! Fascinating is such an inadequate word here.
So you had been before. I can (sort of) understand how important this is to you and yours.
I got swallowed up in the link and then my mind wandered to you and your wyves going on a trip to a place like this and how it must have been for you all together in the car and on a holiday.
I wished dreamily that I was with you all. Just the cameraderie alone would have been - oh man - so many words pop into my head here - safe - together - sharing - loving - companionship - you see what I mean?
Anyway - what an incredible place and an incredible story. Again - lack of words.
Thanks Aims.
It is a fascinating place, though it has none of the associations (for us) of the beach at Strawberry Waters (later post or see DK's blog.)
What a shame you just missed the light. I know how frustrating that can be. Still lovely photos though.
We were disappointed - we spent too much time in Glastonbury!
